The managers behind India’s Alternative Investment Funds
SEBI registers funds, not managers. Its public register lists every Alternative Investment Fund on its own, with a contact person and an email address, and gives no way to tell that two entries belong to the same house.
This site works that out by clustering funds whose SEBI contact addresses share a corporate email domain, after excluding free mail providers and the service-provider domains that would otherwise glue unrelated funds together. The result is derived, not published. It is a reasonable inference from SEBI’s own contact field and it is not a SEBI grouping, not a confirmation of who manages a fund, and not an endorsement of anyone.

Most of what the clustering finds is a single fund
The shape of the result matters as much as the ranking. Of 1,051 families, 791 hold exactly one fund — which is the clustering finding nothing rather than a house with one fund, and the reason the chart above starts at two.

Does SEBI publish which manager runs which AIF?
No. SEBI’s public register lists each Alternative Investment Fund separately, with a contact person and an email address, and does not group funds by their sponsor or manager. The groupings on this site are derived by clustering funds that share a corporate email domain, and are labelled as derived on every page that shows them.
How many AIF managers run more than one fund?
Clustering SEBI’s register by shared corporate email domain identifies 1,051 sponsor families, of which 25% hold more than one fund. 260 families hold two or more, covering 741 funds; the largest holds 22. This is a derived figure, not a SEBI one.
Every family holding more than one fund
A family page lists the funds clustered into it and states the confidence of that grouping. To browse funds rather than managers, use the fund directory.
